He challenges the assumption that salvation (the idea that God, in Jesus Christ, saves us from our sin and brokenness) is a onetime event. Instead, he says, salvation is an ongoing journey that involves growing in grace. The sermon title is “Faith is a Journey” and the Scripture passage is Acts2:42-47. (At one point in the message Pastor Chris says Jesus was with the disciples for fifty days after the resurrection. For clarification, Jesus was actually with the disciples for forty days after Easter Sunday rather than fifty. The Holy Spirit came upon the church a short time after Jesus ascended, which is why we call that period “The Great Fifty Days.”)
