Meet our Co-Pastors and Staff

Rev. Emily Shughart joined Community of Faith on July 1, 2021.

Emily grew up in Ocala, Florida and attended the University of Florida, graduating with a BS in Agriculture Operations Management. After working in different youth ministry positions, she felt God’s calling to ordained ministry and moved to Georgia where she obtained a Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Emily then served as Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church, Orlando. During her service with the church, she met her husband, John. Emily and John have two young children who are the light and joy of their lives

Emily and her family are enjoying being back in Florida continuing their journey at Community of Faith United Methodist Church.

Pastor John Shughart

Rev. John Shughart joined Community of Faith as a Co-Pastor in July 2023.

John grew up in Orlando, FL and obtained a degree from Florida State University (B.S. in Political Science). After college John served in AmeriCorps, lead a nonprofit in the Bahamas doing disaster relief, and worked in social services in Orlando. When John finally said yes to his call to ordained ministry, he attended Duke Divinity School and pastored at Glendale Heights UMC in Durham, NC. Prior to his appointment to Community of Faith, John served as the pastor of Lena Vista United Methodist Church in Auburndale.

A loving husband to Emily and proud father of Stevie and Frances, Pastor John enjoys golf, FSU football, and mastering Blackstone grilling. His passions include nurturing youth and young adults, helping people find their passions, and equipping people for the ministry God has called them to do.
