Steve Huffman

Steve was born in Indiana and grew up in Ohio. He married his high school sweetheart, came to Florida on his honeymoon 47 years ago and has lived here ever since. While serving in the U.S. Army, he attained the rank of Sergeant E-5. During a tour in Vietnam he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with ‘V’ Device, Bronze Star with ‘V’ Device and a Purple Heart. Steve then attended college earning a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Miami (FL) and a Master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Florida. He worked as a counselor with the State of Florida for three years and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service for thirty years, the last twenty one years as postmaster of Davenport, FL.

Steve and wife Bonnie have a son and a daughter and two grandsons. They have been members of COF since 1999. Enjoyment at COF comes from friendships, small groups, energetic music and great sermons. Steve’s hobbies include gardening, woodworking and butterfly ‘farming’.

What is your favorite Scripture verse or passage?
My favorite Bible verse is Solomon’s response to God in requesting wisdom (discerning heart) in 1 Kings 3:9.

What was your first job?
My first job was as bag boy and stocker at a local supermarket.

What is your favorite food?
Anything edible is my favorite food with a preference for grilled salmon and spinach lasagna.

What would a perfect day be for you?
A perfect day for me would be sitting at the beach with my wife enjoying the ocean sounds and pretending to read a book.

What are your favorite characteristics of Jesus?
My favorite characteristics of Jesus are his love for everyone and his ability to teach through parables.
