Making the most

So I am keeping this commitment I made to myself to blog once a week. I wish I could blog more but …okay I don’t wish I could blog more because I would. If I wanted to do I would find the time to do it and I would have stuff to share more than once a week. It is true isn’t it, that we find time for things that are important to us. We say, “Oh I wish I had time to do…” but if we really wanted to do it we would find the time.

I heard about someone who was keeping a food journal. They wrote down whatever they ate. I mean everything from breakfast to the snack, to the cookie they stole from their co-worker. The goal was to help them see how much they really eat every day. I am thinking about doing a time journal, writing down how I spend every moment of the day. I think I may find it a little depressing. I probably waste a lot of time.

The passage in Ephesians 5 rings in my head “make the most of every opportunity.” It is part of a passage where Paul says, “live as wise not as unwise.” How many opportunities have I missed because I haven’t lived as wise but have been unwise? It’s not so much that I have wasted chunks of times; it is the little things that eat away at you. You know 30 minutes watching a show I’ve seen 100 times, staying up just a little late, but then having to sleep in to catch up on sleep. I guess I could go on and on but I won’t, that would be a waste of time.

So my commitment this next week is to watch my time so that I can have the time to make the most of every opportunity.
Grace and Peace.
